The Quality of Your Life is Dependent on the Quality of Your Thoughts
What if the child has a challenge?
Part 3B
Easier ways to understand ideas
One of the most difficult challenges to address is when parents seek guidance from us regarding their
children. Most of these requests center around OCD or shyness.
One thing children understand is stories, one of the reasons fairy tales have held up so well over
time. In fact a good story will peak an interest most adults, which is one reason TV and theaters continue to hold our attention. Whatever messages you are attempting to convey to your child, see how they react
when you use a metaphors or a story format. A good story will leave their mind in a state open to interpreting new information and search for how the story applies to them. When children face challenges in life,
they may need to hear these stories over and over again, each time they hear it, becoming more and more familiar with the message and each time processing the information in a new way. This works with adults
too, whether it is a movie we like or something you will read again and again.
The reason this can work, is that your subconscious mind processes information symbolically. Your
child's challenge is based in emotions (the subconscious mind) and trying to use reason and logic to get them to understand something is like trying to get oil and vinegar to mix.
Give it a shot. It is a fun way for all of us to learn and connect to the world differently.
