SOCIAL ANXIETY

Social Anxiety can disguise itself in many forms. It can be more than just an anxiety or phobia of being around people. Fear of public speaking, fear of making phone calls, or being afraid of an authority figure can all fall under social anxiety. Anytime an intense feeling arises around a performance challenge, where another person can make a judgment of  you, or where you just feel uncomfortable when in the presence of other people, this may be an indication of social anxiety.

In these situations, the person who feels anxious feels they are open to criticism, that they are a sitting target for any scrutinizing eyes in the room. Logically, most people realize that these are unwarranted fears, yet logic never wins out when emotions are involved. Friends may tell you that your fears are unfounded, that they are silly, or that you should just think about something else. They mean well, but they cannot understand the intensity of these disorders. At Designed Thinking we know how these fears have in the past brought you down.

Your change will occur on an unconscious level, since that is where fear resides. You had been thinking in an unresourceful ways when dealing with people, situations of vulnerability, criticism or confrontation.
